It’s been a rollercoaster month so far, what with First Loves and suicide missions taking over the Monday Movie Meme and all; but we’re bringing the fun back home for a week of cleansing. When washing my hair, I sometimes remember those childhood days when my mother used to perform this task in the bathtub, which was never fun because I often felt like I was drowning.
Now, I wasn’t drowning, of course -- but that’s not the point. The experience created an unpleasant memory of one of the most tedious activities in an area that I not only have to look at but also have to deal with on a daily basis -- the tub. So, this week’s Monday Movie Meme topic is: Rub-a-dub-dub.
Share on your blog or in the comments section, your most memorable film scenes that take place inside a bathtub. If you participate by writing a blog post on your own blog, remember to link back to this one and also visit the blogs of other participants. Here are my selections for this week’s Rub-a-dub-dub theme.
"A Nightmare on Elm Street"
Nancy’s little bathtub surprise in this movie, courtesy of those legendary Kruger claws, makes the shared bathroom accommodations in hostels and budget hotels more appealing by the second!
"Hannah Takes the Stairs"
*Also featured during Filming in the Nude week
I’ve considered the act of two people bathing (FYI, showering is a whole other ballgame!) together to be sorta gross but I guess it’s supposed to be romantic -- especially when there are trumpets involved. There’s nothing like serenading your lover/co-worker/boyfriend’s best friend or your lover/co-worker/best friend’s girlfriend with familiar tunes while the warm water turns cool and the dirt starts to settle around the sides of your tiny bathroom enclosure.
"Unfaithful"
Oh Honey, WHY must you interrupt my bath? I know you love me but I don’t need you to check on my leg wounds, what I NEED is some time alone to relax after banging a stranger with a foreign accent, in the bathroom stall of a local restaurant! Now, be a good hubby and go play with our son so I can get ready for round two with a man who shares books that I may or may not be able to find at the public library or flea market.
Yeah! The tub scene featuring Richard Gere and Diane Lane has got to be one of the most awful snubs by a spouse to his or her better half, in a movie, ever! Unrelated sidebar: I love this fucking (no pun intended) film!
