What is so special about the Alicia Keys No One Video?

Photo: J Records

Review of the No One Music Video

The No One song is one of the first singles released from Alicia Keys’ third album. It is a casual and upbeat tune that will keep fans wanting more from the singer. One great aspect of No One by Alicia Keys is that the song sounds much different from her previous tracks. Therefore, it can indicate that there will be fresh tunes on her upcoming album, titled “As I am”. The Alicia Keys No One video recently premiered on Yahoo, giving fans a chance to see the visual component tothis new song. While observing the No One video, there were some enlightening and disappointing reactions formed.

This music video will be sufficient for many Alicia Keys fans. She has continued to be a favorite in the music industry since the debut of her “Songs In a Minor” album. Therefore, the No One video has built-in appeal. However, this Alicia Keys music video is quite boring overall. It begins with the singer alone in the middle of an empty room.

She is then surrounded by musical instruments, followed by the rain and a cool colored nightclub and then Alicia Keys is singing in the street. The taltented singer is by herself in all of the scenes, except for two. They include the club and last outdoor scenes. After the nightclub scene, dozens of people are dancing in the rain to this No One song. That particular scene is almost similar to the Alicia Keys Unbreakable video. Still, there is no plot, special effects or extra actors to add pizzazz in the music video. Even the If I ain’t got you video had a story.

The different scenes add more excitement to this music video. Viewers get to witness different close-ups and angles that change quickly. Alicia Keys looks pretty, as always and her outfits are not as stylish. Instead, she has opted for a more casual and natural colored wardrobe for the No One video. It is a wonder if the singer chose these sets on her own or wore the selections of a personal stylist. Either way, Alicia Keys looks great in this music video. Her makeup is not too dramatic and compliments the singer’s beautiful features.

There are not many special effects or other technical aspects that make the Alicia Keys No One video stand out. Most of the images in this music video are soft. That helps to compliment the warm look and feel to this No One video. Music artists like Alicia Keys do not need many special effects to make a great music video. Her talent is enough to carry fans and TV viewers through a few minutes of entertainment.

Grade B-
Before watching the Alicia Keys No One video, it is easy to think that the song is about a man. However, No One may actually be about her music. That is one perception that can be developed after watching the Alicia Keys No One video. It is a nice music video to watch if you are a fan of Alicia Keys. However, various images of the singer are all that you will get.

The Alicia Keys No One video does not deliver anything special. It gets a B minus as a result of releasing something new to fans. If the singer was not as beautiful or talented and the song was terrible, this grade would have been lower. Hopefully, the next music video released from her “As I am” album will be less boring. It would not be a surprise if this video was rushed. The Album is scheduled to be released November 11,2007.

Hollywood actress Garcelle Beauvais in Playboy magazine

Garcelle Beauvais is known by many fans for her role as Fancy on The Jamie Foxx Show and a popular role on NYPD Blue. She has also appeared in many films including the Wild Wild West, starring Will Smith. It seems that she has recently added "Playmate" to her resume. The beautiful and talented actress "bared all for Playboy" according to Nudography. She posed in the August 2007 issue of Playboy magazine. If you are just getting this news and interested in the feature, it is not too late to pick up a copy of the magazine. It is only about one month behind.
Posing for Playboy magazine is not something that many fans would expect Garcelle Beauvais to do. In the end, it is her perogative. What concerns me is why she chose to post at this time. The actress is currently pregnant with twins that are due this fall. Nudography quoted Garcelle Beauvais as telling In Touch Weekly Magazine that it was the perfect time to do Playboy. She has concerns about what she will look like after her children are born. This is a major issue that has been an ongoing concern among everyday women who may not have children and mothers alike.

While movie and TV fans may see some female celebrities gain weight during and after pregnancy, many of them lose those pounds. Catherine Zeta Jones, Madonna, Jada Pinkett-Smith and even Garcelle Beauvais have lost weight after pregnancy. Garcelle Beauvais is 40 and still looks great, even after having a son from her previous marriage. Victoria Beckham is not an actress, but is a great example of how celebrities remain attractive to the masses (especially the opposite sex) after having multiple children. These actresses continue to look great, no matter how many kids they have.

Despite this usual trend among celebrity mothers, Garcelle Beauvais is concerned about her outer appearance due to the changes that pregnancy (and possibly aging) brings. This reminds me of the thousands of "regular" women in our society who are worried about their looks. It also brings up some interesting questions about women and physical appearance. How does pregnancy or aging make it a "perfect" time to pose nude for Playboy magazine? Also, why must women do something drastic to remind them of when they used to look good? The sad thing is, posing for a men's magazine makes women feel good about themselves because they have it in their head that "I still have it!" and others will be attracted to them.

This is really sad. There is so much talk in our world about pro-life and how pregnancy is a beautiful experience and lost of other crap that makes women believe that this whole ordeal is natural and will be welcomed by all. However, once women give birth or gain weight or age, there is a shift in what people consider "attractive". Here is something to keep in mind. The human body changes. Men never have these problems. Women are always the ones trying to get more attention and feel attractive. Our society has made it so that older women who may not have perky breasts or are not a size 0 or may have small physical flaws are made to feel inferiror and less of a "good catch".

If our shallow society will allow this to go on, why aren't we putting men on a scale and making them lose weight, develop more muscles and six packs? Actresses like Garcelle Beauvais and women in general do not need a spread in Playboy Magazine to validate their level of beauty. A naked Garcelle Beauvais is seen by many people as "hot" and "sexy" while a slightly older Garcelle Beauvais who may develop stretch marks, sagging, weight gain or other physical changes will not get the same positive reactions from fans. This is completely imbalanced.

NBC’s Heroes robbed by 2007 Emmy Awards

Jeff Vespa/WireImage.com
Ali Larter from Heroes was placed on the top ten Best Dressed List

The time has come to let TV fans and everyone else know what really went wrong at the 2007 Emmy awards. It was not the fact that this show took longer that it should. It was also not the fact that Wayne Brady and a few celebrity presenters were more entertaining than Ryan Seacrest. The winning selections are what went wrong with the 2007 Emmy awards show, particularly in the categories of Outstanding directing for a drama series, Supporting actor in a drama and Outstanding drama series. Heroes had Emmy nominations in all three categories and won none.

It is understandable if this NBC series was not given all three or even two Emmys, but none? Zero Emmys? If you did not watch the Emmys, there is nothing wrong with that. For those that did and are fans of Heroes or TV in general, you know what I am talking about. The Sopranos stole the show. Grey’s Anatomy and Ugly Betty had a good night, but The Sopranos took home two Emmys, leaving Heroes in the dust. That was one of the most absurd events that I have witnessed this year in prime time television.

No one is denying the fact that The Sopranos was a good show. I did not even watch many episodes of this HBO series. However, it was not difficult to tell that The Sopranos is a good show……when it was on air. The Sopranos is not even running on TV anymore. The series is over, it has ended and been placed on DVD. Therefore, why is the show getting prizes at the 2007 Emmy awards? This question is very important since Heroes is an awesome show that airs on NBC.

Heroes is still running on TV and provides lots of excitement for viewers of broadcast television. Many non-cable programs can be very boring, but Heroes is a great production. The storylines have lots of twists and turns and the cast is very talented. This show is also full of great special effects and deserves an Emmy award. I decided to watch the 2007 Emmy awards show because Mariska Hargitay was nominated in the Actress in a drama category for her role in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Kiefer Sutherland was nominated in the Actor in a Drama category for his role in 24. While neither of these actors won, I still wanted to watch the 2007 Emmy awards when realizing that Heroes had three nominations.

It was disappointing to witness actor Masi Oka lose the Emmy to Terry O'Quinn from ABC’s Lost for supporting actor in a drama series. It was no more fun noticing that director Alan Taylor won an Emmy for The Sopranos, taking the Outstanding directing in a drama series title away from David Semel of NBC’s Heroes. However, even with those disappointments, I continued to watch the 2007 Emmy awards. Lost is a good TV show, so there is definitely some competition there. I have seen a few episodes and would be a frequent supporter of Lost, if there weren’t already other TV favorites in place.

Good programs deserve awards, especially when they have a large audience. Lost has many fans, so the awards are fitting. However, after watching a long awards program that pushes local newscasts and every other scheduled show back for about 30 minutes, I wanted to see that at least, after all of the giveaways, Heroes would go home with the Emmy for Best Drama Series. Time passed, Ryan Seacrest put on a funny costume, Kanye West participated in an amusing ‘Don’t forget the lyrics’ competition with Dwight Schrute and Heroes cast members looked dazzling. The delightful Helen Miren announces that the winner for Best Drama Series goes to…..“The Sopranos”! I just may pull a Kanye West and boycott these awards in the name of a deserving TV show called Heroes.

First, it was one for Directing and now two Emmys? The Emmy award for Best Drama Series should not have been given to The Sopranos, a TV show that is not in production and not on air. Heroes was robbed of not one, but two Emmy awards. The third one is understandable because Lost deserves their props. They could have at least given one of those Emmys to Heroes instead of making the whole ceremony about a now defunct TV program about the mob. Instead, Heroes was robbed by the Emmys and robbed by The Sopranos.

Do you agree or disagree? Are you a fan of The Sopranos or Heroes or Lost? What did you think about the Emmys overall? Comments are welcome below.

Heroes airs Monday night at 9 on NBC
The Season Premiere is Monday, September 24, 2007 (Season 2)
Note: Buddytv lists Heroes as having eight Emmy nominations. These included categories for editing, Art direction, Sound Mixing and Stunts and Special Effects. They are in addition to the categories mentioned in the above post.
