Meet a Nightmare on Elm Street Star and more

Remember Heather Langenkamp-Anderson from those Nightmare on Elm Street movies? Well, she is supposed to be a special guest at this month's Trail Dance Film Festival. You can find more on this event later on in this post. Now, on to a quick screening of note:

If any of you rockin' readers are in or near Denver, be sure to check out the short film Aspen Roots playing at the Festivus Film Festival in Denver, Colorado. The film does not appear to be listed in the festival's schedule so my guess is that they (just like many film festivals do with short films) paired it with a feature and it will be screening before or after a selected feature film.

The second annual FESTIVUS Film Festival is runs January 8-11, 2009. That's four whole days worth of cool indie films to watch.

Here is some other Film Festival information along with cool movie screenings to check out this month:

The Trail Dance Film Festival event is happening Jan. 16 - 18 in Duncan, Oklahoma.

Some of the films screening at the Trail Dance Film Festival include the following:

A Deal is a Deal

Synopsis:
Paul (Mackenzie Crook) is fed up with driving trains and longs to write novels. He suffers two people falling under his train and hears that three accidents qualifies him for early retirement with 10 years’ salary… lump sum! All he has to do is find a willing victim. He meets Tommy (Colm Meaney) furious at being saved by Paul from jumping off a bridge. Paul offers him £1500 cash to wait till Monday. Having abandoned his family, Tommy decides to salve his conscience by paying his wife Rosemary (Imelda Staunton) and his daughter Frankie (Gemma Arterton) a last visit. Relationships are changed forever but Paul and Tommy are confronted with the reality of the deal they struck.

Genre: Comedy

Festival Screening Date/Time:

Friday, January 16, 2009 - 3:00:00 PM - Simmons Center Theatre

The Stitcher

Synopsis:
From the director who brought you 'Toe Tags' and 'Branded' comes a new face in Terror. Something strange is happening in this eerie backwoods town. An ordinary town that could be only a few miles from your own home. Inspired by true events, a group of friends must survive the weekend in order to escape the terror that is beyond their imagination. Desperate and fearing for their lives, the horror surges when a legendary killer wants something they all possess. They soon find out the town is not what it seems, and with no hope of rescue, they must find their way out before they fall vitim to the Stitcher's obsession.

Genre:
Horror

Festival Screening Date/Time:

Saturday, January 17, 2009 - 9:00:00 PM - Wildhorse Suite (SC)

The Cover image for this blog post is from the film Wheres Dookie Cannata?, a short suspense film that is also playing at the Trail Dance Film Festival. This short film will be showing on Saturday, January 17, 2009 at 9:30PM at the Experience Theatre (CTHC).

Here is the synopsis for Wheres Dookie Cannata?:
After her husband Alvin's death, Ruby is faced with paying his debt to a crooked cop. Alvin's secretary, Delores Cannata needs help to find her kidnapped husband Dookie. Ruby agrees to help in exchange for money to pay the cop.

Now, don't say that I didn't give you any options to get rid of your boredom this weekend or next weekend!
