Monday Movie Meme – Please, Lemme Testify!
Our discussion on female assassins during the previous Monday Movie Meme was fun. This week’s theme is all about the troubles that arise when people go to trial, especially in criminal cases: Please, Lemme Testify!
Share on your blog or in the comments section, movies featuring people who are being targeted by law enforcement, criminals and/or attorneys because they have information that could make or break a court case. When making my selections for this week’s Please, Lemme Testify! theme, only two films came to mind. THE CLIENT features a young boy who becomes the target of a District Attorney after he witnesses a mob lawyer’s suicide; that could be connected to the murder of a local politician, in this thriller starring Tommy Lee Jones and Susan Sarandon. There is also a lot of witness tampering going on in RUNAWAY JURY, a thriller about a wrongful death lawsuit against a gun manufacturer, starring Gene Hackman and John Cusak.
What movies have YOU watched that feature people who find themselves in a lot of trouble after witnessing, hearing or reading something they wish they didn’t know about?

16 Blocks came to mind, the movie with Bruce Willis and Mos Def. I believe it had to do with Mos Def's character being a witness that had to make it to court. Bruce Willis's character was meant to be his protection. But bad cops were out to make sure they never made it the 16 blocks for Mos Def's character to testify. I remember liking the title because it automatically set's the mind up for some high stakes action.
Angela,
Your pick of "16 BLOCKS" is perfect for this week's theme! It's one of the best and most fitting selections ever and I too know what you mean about the title fitting the action being at a high level of intensity. The name of that movie definitely fit the premise and the scenes surely lived up to its title. Gotta love Bruce Willis and who knew Mos Def could play his part well?! Yeah that's an entertaining flick you mentioned here. Go Angela!!! :)
