David Duchovny and a Dare
'D' is for "David Duchovny"
Today's installment for the A to Z challenge is a list of three things that I learned about actor David Duchovny since New Years 2011. You know that game, 2 Truths and a Lie? Well, let's play a game of three facts and a dare! I only recently found out about two of these three David Duchovny facts. Guess which one of these facts I already knew prior to the start of the A to Z challenge and I will write a future blog post on the subject of your choice. To play, add your guess to the comments section.
The Doll for David Duchovny Fans
There is a doll based on David Duchovny's “The X-Files” character, FBI Agent Fox Mulder. This product is part of a Barbie & Ken gift set that also includes a female doll based on his partner, Scully. Although Mattel recalled the original set and released a second version later featuring adjustments to the Scully doll, it appears that David Duchovny as Mulder inspired Ken doll is the same in both sets.
"House of D"
Directed by (and written, edited and starring) David Duchovny, the film “House of D” is about an American illustrator who lives in Paris. This artist returns home to come to terms with problems from his childhood that he escaped but must face on the path to self-discovery. “House of D” also stars Robin Williams and singer Erykah Badu but it was not received well by critics and failed at the box office. However, it has been available on DVD and video streaming for some time. The movie poster features images of Williams and Badu but the DVD cover art for “House of D” prominently features David Duchovny and Williams but no Badu. In fact, she's even removed from the title credits on the DVD.
Deception of “The X-Files” Producers
David Duchovny sued producers at Twentieth Century Fox for selling reruns of “The X-Files” to it's own affiliate networks for much less than this show is worth in syndication. His claims were that producers and “The X-Files” creator cheated him out of millions in profits by not shopping the TV show around to other networks on purpose to increase the company's own bottom line, causing those who had percentage points in “The X-Files” (such as himself) to lose out on revenue.
Update(Thursday, April 6, 2011):
And the winner is......Arlee Bird from Tossing It Out. This player had the correct answer/guess with the doll that Mattel released a few years ago. Prior to April and the start of the A to Z challenge, I already knew about the David Duchovny X-Files doll. I do not have one of these dolls though. If you want to buy me one, lol, you're very welcome to do that. I will be contacting you soon regarding your blog post prize.
Congratulations to Arlee Bird and thanks again for playing this 3 Facts and a Dare game during the A to Z challenge!
