The Devil Made Me Do It #movie #mondays #ahauntedhouse

Just in time for Halloween, comedic actor Marlon Wayans is back on the scene with a trailer from his new movie called “A Haunted House” -- opening on January 11, 2013. This film is about a young couple who moves into their dream house and quickly learns that they are not alone. The main character Malcolm, played by Wayans, realized that his house isn’t haunted -- it’s his girlfriend who is possessed by a demon.

Through a parody of “found footage” movies including “Paranormal Activity” and “The Devil Inside,” Malcolm seeks help from a priest and modern-day ghostbusters to conquer these evil spirits so they won’t ruin his relationship. The movie trailer looks silly but I haven’t watched most, if not any of the movies that Marlon Wayans is spoofing in “A Haunted House,” so I might be out of the loop on how funny the film could really be.

Still, I don’t need to watch “Paranormal Activity” to make this week’s Monday Movie Meme loosely based on this upcoming satirical horror picture: The Devil Made Me Do It.

Share on your blog or in the comments section, movies featuring people who are possessed or believed to have been taken over by evil spirits. Here are my selections is my selection for this week’s The Devil Made Me Do It theme.

The Amityville Horror

I’m referring to the Andrew Douglas remake starring Ryan Reynolds, not the one from the 70s.  It’s kinda creepy how this film shows an arguably normal person become possessed over time. To some viewers “The Amityville Horror” movie could also serve as a reminder that nothing good comes of cults. I’m just sayin’....

What movies have YOU watched featuring people who are possessed?

Have you seen the movie trailer for “A Haunted House?”

Flashback Friday and the Greatest Marriage Proposal Ever!

It’s another Friday in the WordCount blogathon and I’m taking this time to highlight two of my favorite posts from April 2011. One is about movie collections and the second post covers product placement in movies. Also, I’ll leave you today with video of an epic marriage proposal that is a must-see and should start this weekend off on a quite romantic note at movie theaters around the country.

My Movie Collection and Top 10 Independent Films
A literal glimpse into my movie collection, complete with a photo accompanied by 10 independent films that are the best ever, in my opinion. The difference between this top 10 list and the other movie lists that you may read from time to time here is that I own most of the films listed on the post....I didn’t just go “oooh, I like that film, I’ll list it on the blog.” Nope, most of the movies on this list are in (or will be be by the end of this year) in my movie collection.

What NASCAR Taught Me About Making Movies
It took some time for me to write this post, so it has a special place in my heart. In the post, I explain why the movie industry can learn a lot from the sports industry, particularly NASCAR.

and now, for your feature...*ahem*...short presentation.....

The Greatest Marriage Proposal Ever!

It looks like Matt (the guy in this video) has placed the bar pretty high for marriage proposals.....and you thought Kate Middleton was lucky!

This post was inspired by Two Hands and a Roadmap.

Stephen King, The Mist and Real Life Storms

After watching a trailer for The Mist by Stephen King recently, I started to realize how similar this upcoming movie is to real life.

Many of us have been caught in storms or some type of heavy fog. There was even a recent news story about a highway crash involving multiple cars as a result of thick fog. We cannot control nature, but we can control ourselves and how we deal with each other. I have been stuck in a thunderstorm few times. However, they were enough to know that thunderstorms are not fun and they aren't pretty.

Each time, I thought about all of the people spoken of on newscasts who were injured some way during a thunderstorm. One was a young boy who died after being hit by lightening. One time, I waited for one entire hour to catch a bus that did not seem to be arriving any time soon. After a while, I decided to catch a taxicab despite the fact that I did not like taxicabs. This was just to get out of the rain. My trip ended up costing $13 more dollars than I would have paid initially while waiting for the bus. However, I was standing on a busy city street with cars zooming past, heavy rain pouring down and thunder and lightening coming from the skies.

To top it all off, it was windy and that made matters worse. My clothes were soaken wet. I was completely angry because I only planned on spending $2 for a ride. However, safety is more important than money when you are stuck in a thunderstorm or other bad weather conditions. That same day, a man not too far down the city street where I was seemed suspicious like he was trying to rob someone. That was pretty strange, the things that citizens do even during a thunderstorm. When thunderstorms or other forms of bad weather occur, it is best for people to stick together and help each other out. Instead, many citizens look out for themselves and others cannot be trusted my like that suspicious guy on the city street. This is similar to The Mist because townspeople who are trapped by this mist that contains danger need each other in order to survive.

However, the main character has to figure out where the real danger lies. Although I was worried about the thunderstorm I was stuck in, the suspicious guy could have been more of a concern than what he appeared to be. While the dangers of bad weather conditions can be scary, you have to wonder if that is worse than the truth about some of the people around you. This seems to be what The Mist is all about. Everyone trapped in the grocery store trying to escape this deadly "mist" may not be revealing the truth about themselves. That can pose danger for others. The movie trailer for this film is spooky, but attractive. It will have you thinking. Why wait? Visit the website and watch the trailer for The Mist by Stephen King.
