Monday Movie Meme - Magic Pills

So far during the Monday Movie Meme, we’ve covered smoking scenes and people injecting themselves with one substance or another. Thus, the theme for this week -- which is heavily influenced by allergy season that has reared its stuffy head, by the way – comes as no surprise: Magic Pills.

Share on your blog or in the comments section, movies featuring scenes where people are taking pills. This can include just about any type of pill -- prescription drugs, over-the-counter vitamins or related items, and drugs that are not on the market. Any type of medicine or recreational items is good to go, so long as they it is used in pill form during the movie(s) you pick. Here are my selections for this week’s Magic Pills theme.

Limitless

A struggling writer pays a dangerous price for popping pills that enable him to be all he can be, in this psychological thriller starring Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro.

Bad Boys II

Ecstasy is flowing like a river – in nightclubs, “fat doughs”(watch the movie, already!) and on boats affiliated with Klan members, in this action film starring Will Smith, Martin Lawrence and Joe Pantoliano.

And here I thought I could come up with more titles but, unfortunately, my mind draws a blank beyond these two aforementioned flicks.

What movies have YOU seen that include scenes where people are taking pills?

Limitless is the best by far. I can't think of another one that captured it so perfectly.

Well, I'm going to push the envelope of this theme's requirements by going with The Matrix. I mean, when faced with two choices, Neo could stay where he was and remain plugged into the system as a battery source with one pill, or he could discover the less attractive truth with the other pill. Honestly, I'm not sure I would've taken the pill to see the ugly truth :-)

Magic Pills!

First thing I thought of was Limitless. You mentioned it. Darn.

Then I thought outside the box... The Matrix! But Angela already got there too. Darn, darn and darn.

Nice blog!

Maurice,
This pill theme was hard with "Limitless" being the main and easiest pick of them all. At least we're on the same page with that flick. Thanks for commenting! :)

Angela,
Push away...because I'm digging your Matrix selection. You can't go wrong with that movie. No way, no how! I hear you on the two choices Neo had to choose from. Who in his or her right mind would want to discover the ugly truth?! I mean, I reckon that most people in their right mind aim for the opposite effect when popping pills, smoking blunts or anything involving drugs....escaping from the less attractive truth, not going toward it. Neo can have it. I'll take another route, please. Ha!

Edward,
It looks like great movie-watching minds think alike. Gotta love those magic pills, right?! ;) So far it's looking like Limitless is 3-for-4 and the Matrix is 2-for-4. Not bad. Thanks for visiting as well as for your comment! It's nice to see a fellow film buff hanging around my neck of the blogging woods.
