50 Cent I Get Money Video - Music Video Review

Photo: Interscope Records

Gangster rapper, 50 Cent has released his third album titled “Curtis” on September 11, 2007. The track “I get Money” is one of the first songs released from this album. A music video for this song was also one of the initial releases to promote 50 Cent and his “Curtis” album. I recently had a chance to view the 50 Cent I Get Money Video in its entirety. While it was worth watching, this music video is not for every fan. It has a different theme and feel that one has to get used to. This review comes from a more detailed perspective of the 50 Cent I Get Money Video.

50 Cent’s music video for “I Get Money” has a lot of appeal. The song features work from Funkmaster Flex, one of the most popular music DJs in this particular industry. Therefore, this

50 Cent I Get Money Video has more of a nightclub feel to it. While lots of people visit nightclubs every weekend, all music fans do not. That fact makes the 50 Cent I Get Money Video more appealing if you are part of the party crowd. Video models are shown in moderation. That is one of the aspects of this music video that I liked.

A pretty thicker woman is one of those models, which is not the norm. 50 Cent definitely gets additional points for not limiting his I get Money video to women who wear a size 0 and have large breasts. There are kids dancing in this video as well. It is always nice to see talented children doing something productive and enjoying themselves. However, that is not always a good choice for this type of song. The overall concept and lyrics can have a bad influence on younger viewers.

The 50 Cent I get Money video is mostly green. It features Green clothes, green backgrounds and green lighting. These aspects match the money that 50 Cent is flashing around, which is also green, of course. Everyone in the 50 Cent I Get Money Video seems to be having a good time. Even the rapper appears to be enjoying himself. That is always good for viewers as opposed to one stale looking artist who just poses and recites lyrics to his or her song.

Nice colors and special effects enhance the technical aspects of 50 Cent’s music video. The green theme is fitting for what he discusses in this song. The street-like lighting works for this type of song. This music video is not too dark or too bright. It provides a good balance using colors and hard edge images. There is also an LED screen at the top and bottom with video clips in the middle. It provides a different look and feel to this 50 Cent I Get Money video.

The LED graphics also helps to separate 50 Cent from many of the other rappers who are out now. While these three sections are different from each other, the widescreen look is not appealing. Various phrases appear on the LED screen during this music video. Television viewers have a short attention span. The patience of internet users is even smaller.

Therefore, some people are not interested in reading partial I Get Money lyrics on the screen. It would be much better to choose one or the other. There is more interesting action going on within the middle frame. All of the extra LED graphics do nothing but create extra hype. However, this may work if you like all of that nightclub excitement.

Grade B+
The 50 Cent I Get Money Video has all of the elements that represent this gangster rap lifestyle. Those elements are money, hot women and cars. There is also a large entourage of guys who may or may not be friends of 50 Cent. It seems that many rap videos that are supposed to have a “street” feel to them include a gang of men. While it may help to portray some kind of street credibility and attitude, the large male posses does nothing to enhance a music video. 50 Cent’s I Get Money video is creative and entertaining. It get’s a B+ for productivity and relevance. Despite any troubles with additional on-screen graphics, the concept works for the type of audience that it attracts.
