How to save money on Halloween Costumes

In a previous post titled the Ultimate 2007 Movie Halloween Costume List, readers were given fun movie related ideas for Halloween Costumes. Now, it is time to learn how you can save money on Halloween costumes. There is no need to spend tons of money on something that will be worn one time. This is especially true if you are operating on a limited budget. These money saving tips apply to everyone, whether you want a movie related costume or not.

This identity thief costume is very creative and inexpensive to make.

There are many expenses that come with Halloween costumes. This goes for children and adults. While the task can be as simple as wearing mask, other Halloween costumes are more involved. They may require special makeup, shoes or accessories. Dressing up can be fun, but it does not have to cost a lot of money. This article will show you how to save money on Halloween costumes.

Create a Split Personality
One way that men and women can save money on Halloween costumes is by creating their own character. This way, no one can make judgments about how effective your costume is. They will not know what you are supposed to look like, because the characters are new. This can be in the form of a split personality. While the real condition is nothing to make light of, a split personality is one way to save money on Halloween costumes.

Borrow from a friend
If you have friends nearby, they can be your source for Halloween costumes. These items are usually worn once a year, so some men and women may have outfits that they wore already. By reusing these items, you can save money on Halloween costumes. This idea can work even if you are only borrowing regular clothes. There are many costumes that men and women can create using regular clothing. For women, some ideas are in articles for the Obama Girl, Legally Blonde, Amy Winehouse and Angelina Jolie costume. Halloween costumes for men that can be made with regular clothes include many celebrity ideas like Eminem. You can even borrow accessories and toys from friends to save money on Halloween costumes.

Make your own
This is one of the most inexpensive and easy ways to save money on Halloween costumes. Make your own costumes by shopping at thrift stores and consignment shops. These places sell clothing and other items at extremely low prices. It is easy to create a Halloween costume for under $20 using this idea. There is also a way to do it for free, by using your own clothes and accessories. There are tons of Halloween costume ideas on Associated Content that use already owned clothing. Some of these articles include the celebrity and movie costume ideas mentioned in the previous section of this article.

Chip in with others
This is a great idea for women and men who plan on attending Halloween parties or other celebrations. You can also use this idea for just going out on the town of visiting a haunted house presentation. If you an a few friends share the costs, everyone will save money on Halloween costumes. This can work if you are all wearing similar costumes or items that compliment each other. Sharing the total cost will decrease what you will have to pay out of your own pocket.

What are you wearing for Halloween? Are you even going to dress up? Why or why not? Leave your comments below?
