A Spike Lee Joint and Haiku on Control #GBE2
Control means several different things to me and here is a poem, movie quote and music video to reflect most of it all.
Here is a question to my future self in the form of a haiku about control:
Is it possible
to control your destiny
life is a burden
"Malcolm X" starring Denzel Washington and Angela Bassett features one of the most memorable movie quotes that come to mind during this week's GBE 2 topic of control.
[Witnessing Malcolm's control over a mob]
Captain Green: That's too much power for one man to have.
Captain Green's statement is understandable in a general sense because human beings who have power over other human beings often take advantage of this for their own gains or intentions, which tends to cause more harm than good because their guidance is not practiced for the betterment of the group as a whole. Now, if this is not the case, then one man having power over large groups of people may not be such a bad thing.
Since there is usually no way to determine whether a leader has your best interests in mind or not because some people in leadership positions are manipulative, it is best to gain as much knowledge and understanding as possible so that each of us can be in better positions to choose what we will and will not tolerate and also choose how we are to be treated by other human beings.
and now....
Enjoy the feeling of letting go of the control that others have on you and embrace the greatness that is...being in control of your actions, feelings, behavior...your life!
Janet, Ms. Jackson if you're nasty said it best.

Of course, if I were king of the world I'd do it all right and the world would be a perfect place from my point of view. Power does tend to corrupt, or at least attracts corrupted individuals to help the one in power. No one person can rule the masses adequately and there will always be the weak points where corruption and evil will worm their ways in. The world has yet to see the great leader who has lasted through the peoples love and loyalty and who has made everybody happy. And it won't.
